Retailers for Reading

Provided by Sarah Bates, The Zanesville Times Recorder:

A little bit about how I started the program... I sent out two letters to all of our single copy dealers letting them know that the program was going to begin. I also sent letters with our district managers when they collected stores, put announcements on all bundle tops and called each dealer. I let them opt out if they did not want to participate. We had very few opt out of the program and now, two year later, we still have very good retention of our retail supporters.

What I had to do on the financial end was have a reoccurring code set up to charge the retailer the $1 per week, then have that code put on all participating accounts. Our finance department helped me out with this process. The money charged to that code is automatically credited to the NIE account monthly and appears on my monthly bill.

As I had said in the meeting, I did the same with our Coshocton retailers for the Coshocton NIE account. I have all the same materials for that paper too, but it is rather redundant for these purposes.
